Baseball fan Scott Wilson extends long streak of visitors in Texas

As the Texas baseball team celebrated a victory Friday night, one of its fans celebrated a milestone.

Friday’s 3-2 win over Kansas came in the 1,500th consecutive Texas baseball game attended by Scott Wilson. The Texas victory was secured by a two-run rally in the ninth inning, and the team tweeted afterward that “The Horns aren’t losing Scott Wilson’s 1,500th consecutive baseball game, folks.”

Wilson told the American-Statesman that he last missed a game in April 2000.

“I think this is the craziest thing I’ve ever heard of,” Texas coach David Pierce said before joking, “If someone goes to 1,500 consecutive baseball games on the road, then you’re either in love with this place or you don’t have life. Maybe it’s a combination of both. But I love him.’

During the game, Wilson’s streak was recognized and he led an announced crowd of 7,657 in signing “Take Me Out to the Ball Game” during the seventh inning. He also did an in-game interview with Longhorn Network analyst Greg Swindell.
